Magpie at Apache Airflow
As contributions grew, the Airflow maintainers put Magpie to work on the time-consuming parts of managing issues, pull requests, and security reports.
The maintainer’s perspective
“In February 2026 things changed for Airflow for good. We started to get more and more PRs, and Security Issues and since then, it only accelerated. Without Magpie, that allowed us to handle 10x more issues and PRs, with 3x the speed that we used to have, we would be likely to throw our towels and give up”.
“Using Magpie helped us to do things that matter and let our agents do all the stuff that made us - at the beginning of the AI-generated growth of contributions - go down the spiral of burn-out and desperation.”
Testimonial supplied by Jarek Potiuk. The 10× and 3× figures describe his assessment of the team’s experience; they are not a controlled benchmark.
Airflow’s public user list includes Airbnb, Adobe, and Spotify. These are users of Airflow, not claimed Magpie adopters.

The tracker reports 33 open records and a median time to triage of 0.64 hours. The closed total is calculated as 365 tracked minus 33 open. Closed reports include dispositions other than a released fix.
The source data marks skill adoption at April 1, 2026. Jarek’s February reference describes the growth in incoming contributions. The latest month and quarter are incomplete, so the charts show only the observed values, without end-of-period projections.
These are observations from a single project. The all-time totals do not isolate the effect of Magpie or establish a before-and-after comparison.
